Karnataka Vidhan Sabha Election 2023: Analysis of Results and Implications for State and National Politics
Source- ECI The General Election to Vidhan Sabha in Karnataka was held in May 2023. The results are now out, and they show a clear mandate for the Indian National Congress (INC) with 120 seats out of the 223 constituencies where the counting is going on. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the second largest party with 70 seats, followed by Janata Dal (Secular) with 26 seats. Lead on five seats have been occupied by independent candidates, and one each by Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha and Nationalist Congress Party. Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha has also led on one seat. The vote share of various parties in the election was as follows: BJP - 35.99%, INC - 43.11%, JD(S) - 13.00%, Independent - 2.25%, BSP - 0.26%, AAAP - 0.57%, AIMIM - 0.02%, CPI - 0.02%, CPI(M) - 0.06%, and CPI(ML)(L) - 0.00%.
